Back from MAX Milan

By C4RL05

Had a terrific time in Milan and met a lot of colleagues and friends. Many thanks to Adobe UK and Robin Charney for the opportunity.

During my session I showed our latest top secret project for the first time, focusing on the creative and technical challenges we are currently facing. It’s always difficult to prepare a work in progress session, but I think it was well received by the audience. Thanks to Galdric Pons from Hebiflux for the video.

On the same afternoon, I had the pleasure of joining Anton Volkov and Alex Karpovich from Alternativa and Rob Bateman from Away3D in a Birds of a Feather panel session to discuss the present and future of Flash 3D. A great conversation that continued throughout the dinner and drinks to celebrate the second anniversary of both Papervision3D and Alternativa. From left to right, Anton, Alex, Rob and myself.

Also did a couple of quick interviews with my friends Thibault Imbert and Peter Elst:

It was a great conference, with representation from three 3D engines and a considerable part of the audience interested in realtime 3D. We begin to see 3D maturing and becoming an increasingly important part of Flash, instead of a mere novelty. Great news indeed.

I’m curious of how the letters shadow work :P Maybe you’re checking the distance of all the vertices to the floor drawing darker on the texture… uhm, however, nice trick :)

The shadows (HOWTO) was a part of the session, actually a really good solution without killing the CPU …

Anyways, like I said before it was great to meet you c4rlos and also all the other guys who I only knew from forums/blogs/etc ..
